Black Friday is best known for a frenzied rush to the register. People camp out weeks in advance to be the first in line for their Holiday wish. The thing we all seem to forget is the day before we are giving thanks for the things we already have.

This year Thorntons is on a mission to help folks hold onto the holiday spirit of giving and offering people a chance to “Pay it Forward”.

The chosen charity for Louisville and Southern Indiana is one that touches many in the community, Kosair Children’s Hospital.

While consumers are out shopping for TVs, computers and everything else we think we need, there are families looking for something else – the health of a child. We may not be able to cure an illness, but we can bring a smile to a parents face or the simple affirmation to let the medical teams know they are appreciated.

“There is something special about the community coming together around the holidays to make someone else smile. We know this community has a lot of heart and are excited to see the impact a series of small gestures can make,” said Jeff Keune, Chief Marketing Officer, Thorntons.

The small gesture is easy to do. On Black Friday, from midnight to midnight, just stop in any Thorntons in Louisville or Southern Indiana and tell the cashier you want to buy a cup for a cause. Sometimes a simple act means the world.

Thorntons will be collecting the donations and delivering coffee vouchers to Kosair Children’s Hospital the week of December 16.
