On Wednesday, July 25, chef Anthony Lamas will host a “Dinner and a Movie” night at Seviche. The documentary El Bulli: Cooking in Progress will be shown on an eight-foot screen in the private dining room while a seven-course dinner inspired by the movie is served. Showtime is 6:30 p.m., and the price is $125 per person plus tax and gratuity. Seating is very limited, so guests are asked to make reservations in advance by calling (502) 473-8560.
Revolutionary Spanish eatery El Bulli was a Michelin three-star restaurant in Roses, Spain, two hours northeast of Barcelona. Each night, it served a tasting menu of more than 30 courses prepared by over 40 chefs to a single seating of up to 50 guests. For its last season before transforming into a culinary academy, over two million requests were received for the 8,000 available seats. Head chef Ferran Adrià, who took over the restaurant in 1987 and instituted the tradition of yearly developmental sabbaticals, has become the leading inspiration for avant-garde cuisine worldwide, alternately referred to as a mad scientist or Salvador Dali of the kitchen.
Chef/owner Anthony Lamas was a 2010, 2011 and 2012 semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation “Best Chef Southeast” award, and the restaurant was named one of the “ten great places for Latino flavor and flair” in the country by USA Today. In 2011, chef Lamas won the Extreme Chef title on Food Network. Esquire food correspondent John Mariani said of Seviche: “Anthony Lamas has proven himself to be one of America’s best chefs…If you have time for one meal in Louisville, make it Seviche.” All of Seviche’s seafood comes from sustainable sources and is harvested in a manner that does not harm the environment. The restaurant proudly follows the guidelines of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Program, and Lamas has been honored with the Seafood Ambassador award. Hours of operation are 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, 5 t0 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
