Equine works by painter Donna Bernstein will be shown at reception on Wednesday, May 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The show will be viewed by Kentucky Derby guests from around the world at the iconic Brown Hotel through May 19.
Donna Bernstein of Donna B Fine Art found that her passion for horses stirred her artistic expression as a child. Bernstein combines mediums to evoke the movement and energy of horses in large scale works of equine art. Much of the time, her hands never hit the canvas. Instead acrylics, water or inks are splashed, sprayed and thrown to create contemporary forms of the classically beautiful animals.
"Creating my urban equine art is a bit of a bareback ride,” said Bernstein. “Each piece is as a movement of dance - a lyrical embrace of life.”
Gallery at The Brown features local artists quarterly to bring awareness to Kentucky’s visual arts scene. Located on the first floor of the hotel, Gallery at the Brown Hotel is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
