If you’re eager to let the good times roll on Fat Tuesday before you settle down into your Lenten sacrifices (never understood that “sin first, sacrifice to make up for it” mentality, but history is what it is), here are a few places you can get your feast on before you fast for the next 40 days.
Volare Italian Restaurant is hosting a four-course Carnevale at Volare dinner, Feb. 21-23.
Carnevale is the Italian celebratory feast launching Lent, and Volare will celebrate it with the following $55 prix fixe menu (regular menu is also available).
Antipasto: fricandi; spareribs and sausages braised with wine vinegar
Grandi paste: cannelloni; house made pasta filled with ground veal, ricotta, spinach and Parmesan cheese and finished with marinara
Principale: manzo; porcini mushroom and rosemary roasted prime rib served rare with pan sauce and accompanied by roasted garlic mashed root vegetables.
Dolce duet: cenci (the most famous of carnevale pastries consisting of “rags” of fried dough with confectioners’ sugar), and a trio of Zeppole (classically prepared Italian doughnuts prepared) apple-cinnamon, traditional and orange chocolate.
Call 894-4446 for reservations.
* Celebratory masks will be given out at the restaurant or guests can bring their own.
