On Saturday, May 17th at 11 AM (at our Frankfort Ave store), Carmichael's, along with hundreds of independent bookstores across the country, will celebrate Indies First Storytime Day with readings by local children's book authors. For this very special nationwide event, Carmichael's welcomes Louisville illustrator Jaime Corum for a reading from her new picture book "D is for Derby," written by Helen L. Wilbur. Corum received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Kentucky. "D is for Derby" is her first adventure in book illustration.

Of Indies First Storytime Day, award-winning author Katie DiCamillo says “The point is to read aloud, to celebrate stories and to celebrate the indies who work so hard to put our stories in the hands of readers.”
