In conjunction with the 2013 Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10, spectator activities are being announced. The event will be held at the amphitheater at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park in Vevay, IN.
Breakfast will be available by the Jeff-Craig Fire Department beginning at 5:30 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday morning as spectators can watch boats launch into the Ohio River and on to their selected spots between McAline and Meldahl Dams.
Joined by staff of the Cabela's retail store in Louisville, on Friday, August 9 the troupe will present a trivia contest and throw hats and shirts to spectators beginning at 1:00 p.m. Weigh-in begins after 3:00 p.m. The fun continues on Saturday at noon at Switzerland County Tourism staff and volunteers host a casting accuracy contest for youths ages 14 under and adults 15 and up. The contestant in each category who casts the closest to the designated mark is the winner. The category prize is a new rod and reel compliments of Cabela's.
A "fish face" contest will also take place with youth and adults encouraged to make their best aquatic expressions for our judges. Prizes will be awarded. More trivia and Cabela's giveaways will continue on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to bring their cameras and photograph the fun. A four foot plush catfish replica will also be available for use in photos.
A deejay will play music on Saturday from noon until 4:00 p.m. Food and drinks will be available from Truth Apostolic Church beginning at noon on both Friday and Saturday. No alcohol is permitted.
Boats will begin returning to Paul Ogle Riverfront Park at 2:00 p.m. with their live catches. All Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail entrants must be in the weigh-in line by 4:00 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. The $10,000 prize will be awarded after Saturday's weigh-in.
