Artist Jeff Gaither and Modern Cult Records are excited to announce a unique solo art exhibit featuring new works by Jeff Gaither. Please join us on Saturday, December 6th, from 7-10 p.m. for an opening celebration and to meet the artist.
The Exhibit... Artist Jeff Gaither is presenting a new series of works that are representations of his visualization and interpretation of the music and lyrics of historic controversial rock icons. His primary muse for many of his new pieces is legendary psychedelic rock pioneer, Roky Erickson. Roky rose to fame as front man of the 13th Floor Elevators, one of the very first bands to describe their music as “psychedelic”. The resulting music, written largely by Erickson, was laced with beautifully illustrated songs containing lyrics about demons, aliens, and monsters. The songs were also often laden with heavy religious and Satanic references. The man, the music, his tragic life and amazing comeback combine to form the perfect foundation for the work of Gaither's well known, notorious and often controversial artwork. This exciting exhibit will be on display through January 6th, 2015.
The Artist... Born, raised and still living and creating art in Louisville, Kentucky, Jeff Gaither has held the title of being one of the region's most notorious and prolific artists. His professional works have spanned the globe for over 30 years and he has created art for hundreds of albums, CDs, magazine covers, gig posters, event ads, music festivals, non profit groups and fundraisers. Gaither currently has a sculpture and painting on exhibit in the American Motorcycle Association's Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio. He also has a sculpture currently on display at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley as part of the LandfillArt Project's “Second Time Around: The Hubcap as Art” exhibit, which will also travel to select museums across the United States.
In “Burning Temples”, Gaither continues to build on his legendary signature style that incorporates incredible detail and extremely rich color with a unique, unusual blend of horror, rock 'n roll, hip lowbrow styling and alternative energy. Presented on what may be considered by some to be controversial subject matter and media, Gaither's newest works are coupled with visual interpretations of music, monsters and mystique. This daring combination adds a fresh perspective to his work that you will not want to miss. The exhibit will also include pieces fashioned in his classic style including: paintings, prints, and other mixed media, In what is being dubbed as a 50/50/2 event, 50 works will be featured for a super low price of $50 each. This is Gaither's second 50/50 type of event, enabling almost anybody to be able to afford a unique, original piece of Gaither art.
A contributor to the arts and a supporter of many charitable programs, non-profit organizations, events and fundraisers, Jeff Gaither doesn't show any signs of slowing down any time soon. His presence, his list of clients, accomplishments and associates continues to grow.
