The Bristol Bar and Grille’s downtown location is proud to support the American Lung Association for their first annual National Women’s Lung Health Week turquoise take over. From May 12 to 16, cities across the country will light up buildings and local landmarks in turquoise at dusk in an effort to raise awareness about lung disease. The Bristol Bar and Grille, located at 614 W. Main St., will host Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, director of public health & wellness for the city at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 13 who will issue Louisville’s proclamation supporting the week focused on women’s lung health. Louisville Fire Department will also park a fire truck in front of the restaurant with turquoise search lights as part of the evening.
In addition to the proclamation, all week the Bristol downtown will offer a special turquoise-colored drink called Turquoise Charm made with Absolut Mandarin, Chambord, Blue Curaçao, a splash of sour and Sprite. Proceeds from the drink will benefit the American Lung Association. The restaurant will also replace all their white napkins with turquoise ones as well as light their terrace with turquoise lights.
The American Lung Association reports women are 37% more likely than men to have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and account for more than half of all COPD related deaths. More than seven million women in the United States currently have COPD and millions more have symptoms not yet diagnosed.
