Noted Louisvillians and bourbon aficionados, Susan Reigler and Mike Veach will host a dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 6:30p.m., at Bourbons Bistro to sign and discuss their respective books Kentucky Bourbon Country: The Essential Travel Guide; and Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey: An American Heritage. Reigler and Veach will be available to sign the books, which will also be offered at the event.

The dinner, prepared by Bourbons Bistro Executive Chef Jeff Bridges, will feature a salad course, a main course, and dessert. Alcohol, gratuity, and tax are not included. Reigler's, Kentucky Bourbon Country: The Essential Travel Guide, offers essential information and practical advice to anyone considering a trip to the state's distilleries or to the restaurants and bars on the Urban Bourbon Trail. Featuring more than 150 full-color photographs and a bourbon glossary, the book is organized by region and provides valuable details about the Bluegrass. Reigler was formerly the Courier-Journal restaurant critic.

Veach's Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey: An American Heritage, explores the distilling process and bourbon’s impact on the history of the region. In addition, the book shreds light on the industry legends and offers new light on evidence on bourbon’s origins. Veach is the associate curator of special collections at The Filson Historical Society and a member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.

“What better place to celebrate these two works then Bourbons Bistro. This local establishment has meant a great deal to bourbons lovers since 2005,” says Veach. “Since Bourbons Bistro opened their doors eight years ago, bourbon enthusiasts have had a place to call home.”

Reigler and Veach will also discuss the book that they are collaborating on, The Bourbon Tasting Notebook, which will be available in early 2014.
