Fun will team up with philanthropy as blondes face off against brunettes in the 2011 Louisville Blondes vs. Brunettes (BvB) women’s flag football game to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana. On Sunday, May 22 at 3 p.m., the two teams of women—divided to reflect the age-old rivalry between blondes and brunettes—will compete in a powder puff football game on Bellarmine University’s practice field.
It’s not just a competition on the field. The purpose of BvB is to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. During halftime, the team and individual with the highest fundraising total will be honored. Honorary coaches will also be presented with a gift during halftime. “The Afternoon Underdogs,” Dave Jennings and Tony Vanetti will serve as honorary coaches for Team Brunette. Scott Davenport, head coach of Bellarmine University’s men’s basketball team, will be the honorary coach for Team Blonde.
BvB started in Washington, D.C. in 2005 and has since spread across the country raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and more than $1 million for local Alzheimer’s Association chapters.
