Antique Jazz, Speakeasy Swing 'n Sass
Picture a smoky bar in Prohibition-Era New Orleans where musicians play the songs of Billie Holiday, Sidney Bechet, Bessie Smith, Django Reinhardt, Louis Armstrong, and Cab Calloway with cabaret dancers on tables dancing the Lindy. Now swing your focus to Louisville's own BILLY GOAT STRUT REVUE, bringing back the old classics. Formed in late 2011 by guitarist Mark Hamilton, the band also features Laura Ellis on vocals, accordion and ukelele, Amos Hopkins on upright bass, Allison Cross on trombone, Peter Klarman on drums, David McClure Humphrey on violin, and Zach Driscoll on alto sax. Fresh off performances with the Mayor's Concert Series and Kentucky Homefront, those Billy Goats prepare to up the snazz factor as they return for their third show at the Unc. Their first show closed out a cd release celebration back in December of 2011 - their third ever performance and complete with burlesque dancers gracin' the place (perfect!).
Now they celebrate their own cd release and we can't wait for the costumes.
