Kaviar Forge invites you to sign up for our beginner classes in Blacksmithing taught by Craig Kaviar this fall!
Kaviar has been making cool classical work from the inferno of his forge in Louisville for over 30 years.
From embellishing J-hooks to forging fire pokers to the art of constructing a working forge, this class covers the techniques used for thousands of years.
Class sessions will be held at the Forge behind the Kaviar Forge & Gallery on Frankfort Avenue.
Classes will be held for five consecutive Saturdays starting September 7 -- October 5, 2013 from 9 AM -- Noon. The cost of the class is $400 which includes all materials. Working scholarships provided by the Fund for the Arts are available in the amount of $200. Students are expected to have their own safety equipment including gloves, leather shoes, and eye protection (ear protection is provided). The Forge does supply all needed tools and materials for each project but you are welcome to bring your own.
Because of the nature of the working space and safety, classes are limited to 10 students on a first come first serve basis. To reserve your slot you will need to turn in a completed application and put down a full or partial deposit.
