Currently, Barktown Rescue is completing renovations to the old Boston School building and grounds, making it a suitable shelter facility for the alarming number of abandoned, stray and surrendered animals rescued each day in and around Bardstown & Nelson County.
Bourbon City Bark Park is in the final stages of completion, and will soon be the perfect place for dog owners to socialize and exercise their canine companions.
Founded in 2009, Barktown Rescue has placed over 1,600 dogs and puppies into loving homes. Their largest expense is the vet care for the animals that are rescued. Pets cannot be adopted until they are spayed or neutered, and often additional vet expenses are incurred for sick or injured animals. In the spirit of Bob Barker and Drew Carey’s pleas “to help control the pet population”, Barktown also encourages pet owners to have their pets spayed or neutered. Taking efforts one step further, Barktown Rescue has helped provide funds for pet owners who cannot afford to alter their pets.
Barktown Rescue and Bourbon City Bark Park are 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations. Therefore, monetary donations and fair market value of items donated to the silent auction are tax deductible.
