Join us in celebrating the remarkable life and work of Fanny Crosby, a nineteenth century poet, lyricist, and advocate of social justice, blind since infancy. Well-known in her day, she is remembered today primarily because of the hymns she wrote, more than 9,000 of them, using scores of pseudonyms assigned by publishers so her name wouldn’t dominate the hymn books. Several of her hymns are still standards, including Blessed Assurance and To God Be the Glory. Long-time APH reader Mitzi Friedlander will narrate the program; our celebration also includes a choral performance (directed by former KSB music educator Dorothy Noland), a few solos, and a sing-along. For all ages. Admission is free, but space is limited. Please call (502) 899-2213 or send email kcarpenter@aph.orgby August 10 for reservations.
