It's 1992. A 20-something new father with very little drive falls asleep, and wakes up 20 years later to a world he barely recognizes. Email, the web, smart phones. It's a connected world where no one connects!
Meanwhile, his baby son is now a college student looking for fame and love...if he could only figure out what either of them really were. The reality show currently filming at his school can only lead to answers. (That's sarcasm).
Ridiculous from the outset, "Just Like Life" asks the question: How do we connect with people when we're constantly connected to devices?
Playwright Schutte: "I cut my teeth in the theatre world working on the classics, particularly working with Shakespeare. And it astonishes me how--in the current age of information and technology--very few of the Shakespeare stories could actually work. Combine that with a lifelong love of the works of Washington Irving, and you see a play develop that's one part Schutte ridiculousness, one part Romeo and Juliet, and one part Rip Van Winkle. Combined, I think they make for one very fun night of theatre."
