William Shakespeare’s repertoire has a long and rich history at Actors Theatre of Louisville. His timeless tales have been mounted in a wide variety of ways—from classic and contemporary interpretations to stunning reimaginings. The Louisville community’s generous support over the years has allowed Actors Theatre to make Shakespeare’s canon an integral part of its programming. The most prolific example of this support is seen in the work of Barry Bingham, Sr. and Mary Bingham. In 1989, their adoration of “the Bard” culminated in the generous Bingham Signature Shakespeare Fund, allowing Actors Theatre to mount biennial Shakespeare productions without compromise. In conjunction with Actors Theatre’s fanciful reimagining of Love’s Labour’s Lost, the Actors Theatre Gallery is celebrating the rich history of Shakespeare at Actors Theatre, the Bingham Family’s love of Shakespeare and the memorable productions that have resulted from their generosity. Through photographs and dazzling costume and prop displays, we look back on Actors Theatre’s iconic relationship with the Bard—and unveil new opportunities for everyone to contribute to the philanthropic legacy that was first inspired by one family’s love of Shakespeare. - See more at: http://actorstheatre.org/events/actors-theatre-gallery-the-bard-and-the-...
