2013 Bacon Ball Moves to Oxmoor Farms

Bacon Ball 2013, the annual bacon-tastin’, boot-shakin’ and art making extravaganza hosted by Louisville Visual Art Association (LVAA) takes place Saturday, May 18, and has moved to new location, historic Oxmoor Farms behind Oxmoor Center.

Over 1,200 guests are expected to the attend the third annual event which includes an array of bacon appetizers and dishes served by many of Louisville’s best restaurants, bourbon cocktails by Four Roses, local beers by Bluegrass Brewing Company (BBC) and Cumberland Brewery, live entertainment featuring John Berry & the Outliers, a silent auction and art participation project. Participating restaurants include Decca, NABC Bank Street Brewery, Proof on Main, Hammerheads, Silver Dollar, Rye, Eidertown, and Seafood Connection, and others to be added. Other foods stuffs Mark’s, Blue Dog and Kilimanjaro foods will be served up, along with desserts from Cellar Door.

Each year, chef’s from local Louisville restaurants complete for the title “King of Bacon” by preparing bacon infused appetizers which are served to the 1,200-plus attendees. In addition to the annual Bacon King “People Choice Award,” presented to the chef selected by everyone attending the event, this year includes the first ever Bacon King “Critic’s Choice Award,” presented by New York Celebrity Chef Adam. A Louisville native, Adam Sachs is a popular food and travel writer for numerous publications, including Bon Appetit, Conde Nast Traveler, Food & Wine, Gentleman’s Quarterly, New York Times, The New Yorker and others. Earlier the month, Sachs received two awards for travel and food journalism in the prestigious 2013 James Beard Foundation Awards.
