A Call to artists interested in teaching and collaborating with children with disabilities. Artist Potluck and info session about the VSA arts of Kentucky SIDE BY SIDE Program Thursday, January 12 from 6:30-8:30.
About SIDE by SIDE program:
Side By Side is designed to offer a creative outlet for students, reinforce inclusiveness and positive self-image, and highlights the importance of arts education in the development of our young people. Additionally students will have the opportunity to create work alongside a local artist and see their work exhibited in a professional gallery setting.
The Side By SideVisual Arts Program is an art program composed of a series of visual arts classes for children with disabilities that provides mentoring collaboration with professional adult artists from your community. Students create works of art during studio session art classes led by a VSA artist-in-residence. After the final studio session, each student artist is paired along side local professional adult artist from their community and together in a one-on-one session, they create, Side By Side, a collaborative work of art. The program concludes with a public exhibition hosted by VSA Kentucky along with the partnering organizations in each community.
This year's Side By Side Visual Arts Progam will include wonderful creations by all our participants! You can view the most recent artwork in our 'Various Masterpieces' section below, which is updated monthly from this year's participating students and professional local artists creations.
