LOUISVILLE, KY – The Jewish Community Center is proud to announce its newest exhibition at the Patio Gallery, “Art After Eighty.” This invitational show features local artists, 80 years or older, who have continued to produce significant artwork throughout their lifetimes. Combined the exhibit represents more than 900 years of artistic contributions.
The exhibition runs from Sunday, July 31 to Sunday, September 4 at the Patio Gallery at the JCC, with an opening reception from 2-4 on Sunday, July 31. All artists will attend an opening reception at the Patio Gallery on Sunday, September 4 at 2 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
Participating artists include: Elmer Lucille Allen, Aline Barker, Mary Cobb, Dario Covi, Eugene Cruikshank, Mary Ann Currier, Ewing Fahey, Bill Fischer, MaryLou Hess, Martha Jean Hollenbach, Marian Lord, Bernice Mazin, Anne Pope, Naomi Pressma, Charlotte Price, Tom Scott, Sue Turner Chapman, Marge Welch and Mary Zena. The exhibit will feature a variety of types of artwork including watercolor, fiber, oil, etching, mixed media and more.
The Patio Gallery represents a broad variety of different media, artists groups, and individuals. It features shows that include sculptures, textiles, photography, and painting with approaches that range from representational to abstract, from traditional to cutting edge. Patio Gallery Director Bette Levy says, “We try to foster an appreciation of today’s 2-D and 3-D artists and often include artists whoreside outside of Louisville. In addition, we often offer exhibits that address significant social issues.”
