Arguably the most important invention of the late 19th century was Thomas Edison’s incandescent light bulb. The Age of Edison explains how the light bulb became a catalyst for the nation’s transformation from a rural to an urban-dominated culture.
Ernest Freeburg is a Distinguished Professor of Humanities at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and is the author of several books bridging the 19th and 20th centuries.
