ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE ANNOUNCES KEY DATES FOR
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
Louisville, KY – Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein invite the local community to mark their calendars as they announce four key events scheduled to mark the 50th Anniversary of Actors Theatre of Louisville.
Actors Theatre of Louisville will kick off its 2013-2014 Season, celebrating 50 years of theatre, with a community Block Party on Saturday August 17, 1 p.m.-10 p.m. The50th Anniversary Block Party, sponsored by LG&E and KU Energy, will be free and open to the public and will take place on Main Street between 3rd and 4th, directly in front of the Actors Theatre complex in downtown Louisville. The Theatre invites the entire community to come out and celebrate its past, present and future with an all-day affair featuring highlights from the 50th Anniversary Season lineup, live music, interactive booths incorporating behind-the-scenes elements of our producing process, a prop and costume sale, giveaways and more. Plus, special guests from the Louisville arts community.
Actors Theatre will host a 50th Anniversary Gala, presented by Glenview Trust Company on September 21 at the home of Lee and Babs Robinson, Malvern House. This glamorous black tie event will honor those who have made Actors Theatre what it is today. Say “Aloha!” as on February 8, 2014 Actors Theatre’s annual fundraising eventLobster Feast, co-chaired by Bill and Barbara Juckett, will take Hawaii 5-0 as its theme and bring some much needed sun and surf to Louisville this winter. Voted as one of the best charitable events in town at last year’s LEO awards, this costumed event is your chance to be Gilligan and Ginger, Don Ho, the Big Kahuna or Barack Obama, and get lei’d at the door all while enjoying all-you-can-eat lobster with a buffet dinner, signature drinks, and cocktails. Finally, Actors Theatre will close out the 50th Anniversary season with the Humana Festival Bash on Saturday, April 5. An annual party uniting out-of-town guests and theatre professionals from around the world with theatre enthusiasts from the Louisville community, this event is free and open to the public. This year, in honor of 50 years of Actors, it promises to be bigger than ever!
