50 Years…And Counting
Curated by Roanne Victor
Presented in Partnership with The Courier-Journal
Uncover the drama with this unique and engaging exhibition as it reveals 50 years of Actors Theatre’s history and 38 years of the Humana Festival of New American Plays. Featuring an assorted array of professional photographs from the vaults at Actors Theatre and the archives of The Courier-Journal, this exhibition provides a sweeping look at five decades worth of achievements and nearly four decades of celebrating the American playwright. Join us as we take visitors on a photographic journey through iconic moments in Actors Theatre’s history.
From a grassroots theatrical venture house in a rough-and-tumble loft space on Fourth Street, Actors Theatre has grown into one of the most important regional theatre companies in America and occupies almost an entire square block in the heart of downtown Louisville. Actors Theatre has achieved international success with the Humana Festival of new American Plays, the premier new play festival in the nation. This exhibition is the second installment in a photographic series that celebrates Actors Theatre’s 50th Anniversary.
