The French posters from 1880-1930 were at the end of an era which was soon to give way to more radical use of space. This style re-emerges as an ironic motif in the San Francisco "acid" posters of the 60s. Using images of posters from the San Francisco poster collection of Keith Kleespies, Skaggs explores the connotations these posters must have had for their original audience and how that got twisted and replayed 80 years later.
