Birth Care Network Celebrates 11 Years of Support for Women In Their Childbearing Years and Presents the 7th Annual Music and Info Fest for Birth, Breastfeeding and Beyond
Doula (DOO-lah) Derived from the Greek culture, a doula is a “woman servant.” This term is applied to a trained professional who offers continuous informational, physical and emotional support to the laboring woman and her partner.
Save the date: Saturday, October 15 at the location of Douglass Loop Farmers Market on the south-facing lawn of Douglass Boulevard Christian Church, 2005 Douglass Blvd at Bardstown Road in the Highlands; 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Join the family fun at this year’s gathering of birth professionals and their community of clients, friends and advocates as Doulapalooza rocks into its seven years of promoting positive, informed childbirth.
It is a free event and open to the public. There is something for everyone.
The festival and fundraising atmosphere of Doulapalooza welcomes the finest local musicians, educational exhibits, craft vendors, children’s activities, food and prizes. This year it is held in conjunction with the Douglass Boulevard Farmers Market, where freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and desserts as well as locally grown produce and gift items are available just yards away.
Acoustic performances will be from 10:00 am. - 1:30 pm and include Danny Flanigan, Leigh Ann Yost, Molly McCormack and Bettie Keeling aka String Chickens, Heidi Howe, Kri & Hettie, The Howards.
Participants include Birth Care Network, International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN), WomanCare @ Clark Memorial, Louisville Family Chiropractic, Louisville and Southern Indiana La Leche League, Mother Birth Doula Services, Owltree Yoga, Babyology, Mama’s Hip, Louisville Postpartum Doulas, NZA Photography, The Diaper Fairy, Birth Louisville, Bird & Bee Boutique, SPROUTS and a few surprises!
In October, Birth Care Network celebrates 11 years of service to women and their families with its diverse membership. It is a non-profit organization of midwives, doulas, childbirth educators, breastfeeding support professionals and other family support professionals dedicated to providing options for positive, informed childbirth in Kentucky and southern Indiana.
