Land of Tomorrow and the University of Kentucky School of Music are pleased to present the annual performance of the electronic music concert 60x60 as part of the 5th Annual Kentucky New Music Festival. 60x60 is a project made up of sixty works from sixty composers from around the world. Each composition is sixty seconds or less in duration and pieced together to create a one hour performance.
Created in 2003 by Vox Novus founder Robert Voisey, 60x60 began as an electroacoustic "tape" concert with sixty electronic works synchronized with an analog clock to mark the passage of each minute. Since then 60x60 has received thousands of audio submissions from more than thirty countries, produced radio shows, collaborated with multimedia (including dance, video, sculpture, and photography) and released several albums. Composers featured in 60x60 have come from every musical aesthetic, professional career stage, nationality, age, ethnicity, and gender.
“Highlighting the work of a great many composers, 60x60 testifies to the vibrancy of contemporary composition by presenting the diverse array of styles, aesthetics and techniques being used today.”
The following are those who have been selected for the 60x60 project.
