Christmas at the Galt House Hotel’s will return for the fifth year with complete transformations that will stimulate all the senses when it opens on November 15, 2014 in Louisville, Kentucky. The 47-day event invites guests to go back in time and experience larger-than-life lighted luminaries, meet the Snow Fairy Princess, and see the delight in the faces of the children riding the Peppermint Express Kiddie Train. In addition, two-time Grammy Award Winner Pam Tillis will perform a custom holiday dinner show that will captivate all ages.
KaLightoscope: A Christmas Carol experience will charm guests with the magical interactions of luminaries, performers, and 3D projection. The 130 all new larger-than-life lighted luminaries will illustrate the story of A Christmas Carol. The luminaries, made with silk wrapped around new LED lighting, is sure to entice and entertain guests of all ages with beautiful lights, colors, smells, and sounds as the classic holiday story is told through an ancient Chinese art form. Custom designed props, mechanization and sounds enhances the storyline and separates this event from other light and luminary shows throughout the world.
The experience continues as guests move into the English village where they will pass storefronts with nostalgic holiday windows featuring animated characters portraying holiday scenes. Guests will be welcomed into an English lodge with a complimentary warm beverage that provides a stage for special holiday-themed performances of song and dance throughout the day. Children will have an opportunity to mail their letters to Santa at the new post office, among other activities.
A returning favorite, the Snow Fairy Princess is back with an enhanced castle where you’ll be able to Make a Flake and find activities for all ages. It is here that guests can learn the art of crafting intricate snowflakes with birds, dogs, stars, trees, and so much more inside. Mr. Sugar Pine, the Talking Tree, will greet the guests as they exit the Snow Fairy Castle and make their way to the green screen Santa’s Sleigh Experience. Guests will be sent the video of their family inside Santa’s sleigh through email and can share it on social media.
The fifth anniversary of Christmas at the Galt House Hotel also brings more whimsical activities for families. This includes creating your own snowman—inside! Guests can build, dress, and decorate their own snowman and take pictures with him! Then, they can move into the snow play area and enjoy the white stuff without having to go outside in the cold. Next up is the Peppermint Express Kiddie Train Ride. Ernie the Engineer greets all the kiddos who are always eager to jump on the train and ride through the Candy Cane Forest, a playful area full of enchantment that will fascinate guests from young to old.
