Colon cancer is the 2nd leading cancer killer in both men and women in Kentucky, Indiana, and the United States. The Walk Away From Colon Cancer & 5K Run aims to raise awareness and funds to reduce preventable colon cancer by increasing screening rates through education, advocacy, and health systems improvement. Each year, thousands of American families are affected by this common but little discussed disease, despite the fact that it is one of the most preventable forms of cancer! When found early, colon cancer has around a 90% cure rate. We invite individuals and teams to join us at beautiful Iroquois Park to run, walk, spread awareness, and celebrate survivorship! Proceeds benefit the Colon Cancer Prevention Project, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to colon cancer prevention and support.
