Let the Bourbon flow with the Whisky Chicks and Bourbon Bro’s at the first annual Bourbon Mixer! With the growing popularity of Kentucky’s Bourbon, two of Louisville’s most spirited social groups, the Whisky Chicks and the Bourbon Brotherhood, have come together to host their first annual joint fundraising event which will benefit the Coalition for the Homeless this year.
The event, scheduled for August 8, 2014, will be a one-of-a-kind experience that will combine a little bit of history, a dash of bluegrass, delicious southern cuisine, and of course, fine Kentucky Bourbon. The folks at Heaven Hill Distilleries’ Evan Williams Bourbon Experience have graciously opened up their doors for this unique event. The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, located on Louisville’s historic Whiskey Row, offers guests a historical glimpse back in time to see Evan Williams’ original distillery through high definition recreations of the Louisville wharf and Main Street in the late 18th Century, plus recreations of Whiskey Row building facades along Main Street from the 1890’s through the present.
In addition to being able to tour the new Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, guests will also have access to premium Bourbon tastings, specialty cocktails, and Bourbon industry experts. There will be a special performance by the Whiskey Professor, Bernie Lubbers, and famed bluegrass musician Hickory Vaught. Limited seating for this very special presentation is available for those who purchase Bourbon Mixer tickets early. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on several premiere auction items as well, including select collectable Bourbons, private Bourbon tastings, events, food, and much more.
All proceeds from the Bourbon Mixer will benefit the Coalition for the Homeless, whose mission is to prevent and eliminate homelessness in Louisville. The Coalition has a three-pronged approach to this mission: advocacy, education, and coordination of their 30 member agencies who provide a variety of services to the homeless throughout the city. Through the Coalition’s work with their member agencies and the Rx: Housing Program, since 2011, the number of chronically homeless on the streets in Louisville dropped by 50%.
