Now in its 16th year, the Jewish Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals in Louisville, is back Feb. 8-23 with a slate of provocative films and programming that explore the expansive and ever-changing notion of Jewish Culture.
The festival is proud to screen Ziad Doueiri’s suicide-bomber drama The Attack. Based on Yasmina Khadra’s international bestseller, the controversial film was banned in Lebanon but highly praised by U.S. critics. The film follows an Israeli-Palestinian surgeon, shocked to discover that his wife was involved in a suicide-bomb attack, as he ventures into Palestinian territory to confront the people who recruited her. The Attack will show 7:30 p.m., Sat., Feb. 15, at Village 8 Theaters.
Tickets for most films cost $8.50 in advance, $10 at the door. Student tickets can be purchased for $6. To purchase tickets, visit www.jewishlouisville.org/filmfestival or call the JCC at 459-0660. A complete schedule, film descriptions and trailers are also online.
