Newburg Boys & Girls Club will host a Yum! Brands CANstand Day in the Club’s field and playground area benefiting Dare to Care Food Bank on Tuesday, April 21 from3pm – 6pm. Open to the Public event encouraging the community to stop by for some lemonade, sing a song, drop off some canned goods and help end hunger!
The boys & girls of all ages will help the Yum! Brands Foundation honor the Mayor's request to VOLUNTEER and Be ACCOUNTABLE!
· The students will rotate through the three-hour day, serving fresh lemonade to the public in exchange for canned goods or a cash donation
· A 3:30pm visit from Mayor Greg Fischer
· Olympic Swimmers including Elvis Burrows will be on hand to inspire and teach some
on-land exercise drills and leadership tips
· Spin the Wheel of Yum! for fun prizes
· Lemonade throughout the day
· Kids Karaoke with Lisa and Lightning Karaoke!
· Other interactive activities
· 100% of the donations go to feed the hungry in our community.
The Yum! Brands Foundation launched the CANstand campaign in2010 with kids accountability in mind. These kids of the Boys & Girls Club are excited to help Dare to Care Food Bank, honor the Mayor and help others in need. Laura Melillo Barnum, Yum! Brands Foundation Executive Director states: “Yum! Brands wants to involve everyone in the family in the mission to feed the hungry. We want the youth of our community to know that whether you are six or sixty, you can make a difference in the lives of those in need.”
