It's an hour until the headliner of Jazz Fest 2015 takes the stage; we got a private room with eats, some drinks, it's dark ... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.
In honor of the fact that brothers Derrick Gardner and Vincent Gardner will be the main act for this year's Jazz Fest, Yelp Gets Schooled At UofL will host a private pre-show reception in the theme of another jazz and blues loving pair of brothers.
But instead of going "Blues," we'll go with our favorite color instead: red!
At this event, guests will be treated to the private reception that will be catered with light bites from Varanese and include other activities. UofL jazz department faculty will be on hand to give an insider's look at the concert.
And then at 8 p.m., we'll attend a performance by Derrick and Vincent Gardner in Comstock Hall. Derrick Gardner, a trumpet player who's played in the Count Basie band and with Harry Connick Jr. among many others and leads the Jazz Prophets, and his brother Vincent, lead trombonist for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, cap their master classes for UofL jazz students with a show featuring the UofL Faculty Jazz Ensemble and selected students.
Yelpers pay the $15 general admission to the concert, but they can take advantage of a special deal: Get $5 off a two-day pass through this promotion (so $25 instead of $30).
