Join us and drink for a cause on Thursday, March 30th!
Former University of Louisville basketball national champion Luke Hancock and LouVino Wine Bar and Restaurant are joining forces to launch a month-long event, Wine Down Louisville, to shed light on autism.
Hancock has hand-selected a variety of red and white wines that will be available at both LouVino locations (1606 Bardstown Road in the Highlands, and 11400 Main St in Douglass Hills) throughout the month of April. A portion of the proceeds from each of Luke’s selections sold will benefit Dreams with Wings, a local nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of services, programs and community inclusion for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism.
April is designated as World Autism Month. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate autism’s prevalence as 1 in 68 children in the United States. Autism spectrum disorder is characterized by a range of challenges including social skills, speech and nonverbal communication, repetitious behavior, and more.
“Autism is one of those disorders where signs or symptoms become present at the onset of early childhood,” said Jenifer Frommeyer, executive director of Dreams with Wings. “It’s a condition that not only affects the child, but causes much stress on families throughout the region, particularly when it comes to resources to help the child, and the costs for treatment.”
Hancock’s wine selections available during the promotion include a Sauvignon Blanc - 2016 Trinchero ‘Mary’s Vineyard’ from Napa Valley, California, and a Pinot Noir – 2014 Etude ‘Lyric’ from California’s Central Coast (Santa Barbara).
Come Join us for the launch of Wine Down Louisville at LouVino: Highlands on March 30th and meet the NCAA champion, drink some wine, and support an amazing cause, and together we can help support the members of our community who live with the disorder everyday.
