Whitehall is pleased to announce that its 13th annual Peony Festival will be held at historic Whitehall on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. This year's event will offer multiple activities:
PEONIES ON DISPLAY
Although the public is always welcome to tour Whitehall's gardens throughout the day from sunup to sundown, the date of our Peony Festival has been selected as when we estimate Whitehall's impressive collection of over 60 peony varieties will be at their peak. There is no charge to visit the gardens.
GUIDED GARDEN TOURS
For those interested in learning more about Whitehall's gardens, guided tours will be offered during the Peony Festival at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Guided tour admission is $5 per person; reservations are not required.
FLORAL ARRANGING DEMONSTRATION & PEONY TALK WITH SLIDESHOW
This year's Peony Festival will also feature a joint presentation inside the Whitehall mansion at 4 p.m. by floral designer Wayne Esterle and noted hoticulturist Don Smith. Mr. Esterle will demonstrate how to create beautiful and lasting arrangements with cut peonies. Mr. Smith will present a brief slideshow lecture on the basics of growing peonies, concluded by a Q&A session. The cost for attending this presentation is $15 per person; reservations are not required.
PEONY & RARE TREE PLANT SALE
A limited selection of herbaceous peonies and rare trees will also be offered for sale. Peonies available for purchase to include: Doreen, Lake of Silver, Super Gal, Coral Charm, Dairy Anne, Glory Be, Red Charm, Madison and Tom Cat. Peonies will be planted in 1 gallon pots.
