Written by Sarah Ruhl, one of America’s leading female playwrights, “Eurydice” launches the spring lineup of the theatre arts department’s season of plays written entirely by women. Ruhl’s retelling emphasizes a strong female voice by focusing on Eurydice and making her the heroine instead of Orpheus.
On her wedding day, Eurydice falls victim to a tragic accident that sends her hurtling into an eerie but captivating underworld. Ripped from her beloved Orpheus, the greatest musician in the world, Eurydice is reunited with her dead father in the Land of the Dead. Orpheus journeys to retrieve his bride, but Eurydice has begun to discover that her memory of her former life seems different from the reality.
The play will run from Jan. 26 through Feb. 4. Please follow the link below for showtimes.
