While many people think that they are immune to extremist behavior, the science says otherwise. In this six part series, Dr. John Busch and guest experts from the Salaam Network Louisville and other guest experts will use Islamophobia as a lens through which to examine the wider involvement of hate and terrorism in America.
Topics covered include how our brains react to real or perceived threats; why threats have more to do with social constructs than biological race or sex differences; why some people campaign against perceived threats in ineffective ways; and intervention techniques.
The experts are:
Dr. John Busch, Ph. D., retired UofL sociology professor
Jim Aalen, Sufi & Communications Administrator, The Salaam Network Louisville
Dr. Joseph Brennan, Ph. D., Director, Kentucky Labor Institute (KLI)
Dr. Riffat Hassan, Ph. D., Renowned Islamic Scholar & Educator, Founder/Director, Salaam Network Louisville
Dr. Dennis Neyman, Ph. D., Coordinator, US Peace Memorial Foundation
Rev. C. J. Wright, Executive Director, Rainbow Spiritual Education Center, Inc.
