After a long run of challenges, Testament, is bringing their sharpest, leanest, heaviest and most prophetic set of songs to the heavy metal scene. Mercury Ballroom welcomes the legendary thrash metal band to the stage on Tuesday, April 21 presented by 93.1 The Fox.
Testament formed in 1983 under the name Legacy and are often credited as one of the most popular thrash metal bands of the 1980's. The group has gone through multiple lineup changes but their current group consists of guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, vocalist Chuck Billy, drummer Gene Hoglan, and bassist Steve Di Giorgio. It is these five that have revolutionize their sound and have begun a creative revitalization of Testament albums.
Testament serves up ‘old school’ without the old, crushingly heavy albums without the weight of oppression, all crisp and lively like a ball-pin hammer-wielding maniac intent. Their music crackles with the type of vibrant energy that comes from a connected and creative core.
Reaching this level of creative fields has been quite a journey for Testament and has led them to an even deeper creative output. "Everyday life generally throws up some heavy stuff, both national and personal," declares Chuck Billy, "So all these songs are very much of our time and experiences." Subjects like loss of family members, September 11, and dedications to American Soldiers are all represented in Testament's new albums. The statement is obvious that Testament is stronger, more powerful and more confident than ever before.
