We are so excited to have Ashby Acres teaching us about starting seedlings. They have been a supporter of Let Us Learn, donating a peach tree for our garden and two compost bins. We will be having a giveaway to one participant.
Ashby Acres is also one of the farms that support Veggie Rescue.
We are James and Kendra Ashby. We have been married for 30 years. We have five daughters and five grand children. We are both from New Albany. We attend Northside Christian Church.
We feel we have a calling to help provide healthy food to people. We live in the city and have turned the majority of our yard into an urban farm.
We have spent the past 10 years growing on less than 1/4 acre in town. In September of 2018, we were blessed with the ability to buy 4 acres of family farmland. Not only has this made our dreams of growing food a reality but this is farmland that has been in the family for over 100 years. Owned by James’s great-grandparents Martha and Josesph Rodewig. Prior to that time period, it was owned by his great grandmothers parents the Turners. We feel blessed to be the next generation to farm this beautiful piece of land.
Our dream is to grow healthy food for our community and spread our love of growing food to everyone. Making healthy food affordable and local is our top priority.
