Local sommeliers and chefs will showcase their expert skills in a wine pairing competition, Somm Slam, Monday, March 6 at LouVino, 11400 Main St. in Douglass Hills. The first event of its kind in Louisville, Somm Slam will feature four courses with two wine pairings per course chosen by eight sommeliers who will be vying for the best wine-food pairing. Guests will be the judges of the evening by selecting their favorite vino and food combo. Emceed by Brown-Forman’s chief entertaining officer Tim Laird, the roster of chefs includes Tavis Rockwell and his LouVino team, Patrick Roney of Harvest and Jeff Dailey of Corbett’s. The event begins at 6 p.m. with bubbles and passed hors d’oeuvres followed by the four-course dinner at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $125 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and seating is limited.
