The Slave Dwelling Project: Campfire Conversation and Overnight
Friday, August 23, 6:30 pm
Join Joe McGill of the Slave Dwelling Project for an overnight stay on Locust Grove’s grounds. The founder of the Slave Dwelling Project, Joe McGill is an educator, Civil War reenactor, and descendant of enslaved people who has conducted programs about the life and memories of the enslaved in 23 states on one-hundred-fifty historic sites. During this campfire discussion and overnight stay, Joe will guide a conversation about the lives of enslaved people across the United States, including those at Locust Grove, and consider what can be learned from sleeping where they slept and standing where they stood. Find out more about the Slave Dwelling Project here: https://slavedwellingproject.org/.
