KMAC Museum is pleased to present a FREE public screening of the short film Lofa Boy on July 2nd at 8:00pm, in the newly renovated museum at 715 West Main Street. Doors at 7pm.
Lofa Boy is a short film written and directed by Louisville native, Chad Blevins. The film was shot locally and sourced a bevy of Louisville talent to make up both the cast and the crew including Evan SENNETT as Milo, and Will OLDHAM as Frank.
As with any classic coming of age story that takes place over the course of just 24 hours, Lofa Boy illustrates the volatile relationship between a teenage boy and his inattentive father. Through a crowed of overly saturated professorial narcissism, this film explores parental relationships from an adolescent's point of view, specifically dealing with issues of obligation and neglect.
Music drives the story along in this film, bringing characters together and driving them apart. The soundtrack and score is made up of all original music, written by Brian Vega, and one traditional folk song, Swing and Turn Jubilee.
Accompanying the screening, there will be a live performance of original music from the film along with a small exhibition of original art, props, sketches, and costumes by production designer, Maya Weissbach and costume designer, Ani Tucker. This is a ticketless event. Guests may RSVP on Facebook.
This will be the first film screened in the renovated museum, reopening on July 1 after a 10-month, 3-million dollar redesign offering increased public area, streamlined exhibition space and enhanced educational capacity. For more information on the reopening weekend, visit kmacmuseum.org.
