The Schnitzelburg Rock is a new all-day music festival, which will take place on April 25, 2015. It will be held at The Cure Lounge, located at 1481 South Shelby Street in Louisville. The concert will feature 10 local musical acts. Headlining the festival will be and Jack Holiday & the Westerners, a popular freak folk rock group; and The Mighty Auroch, a well-known doom metal band.
The Schnitzelburg Rock is a celebration of the Louisville music scene. According to founder Randall Majors, the concert will feature only local acts in order to promote established local bands and to foster more music being created in Louisville. Bands playing the festival include Hanoi Jane, Sweatermeat, and Hal Dolls.
The Schnitzelburg Rock will take place the same day as the Spring Schnitzelburg Walk. The goal is to bring more people to the Germantown neighborhood and to increase attendance at the Schnitzelburg Walk. Attendees to the Schnitzelburg Rock will be allowed to come and go as they please and will be encouraged to visit the Schnitzelburg Walk between bands.
The cost to attend will be $8, with an early-bird rate of $4 before 8pm. Doors will open at 4pm and music will begin at 5pm. The Cure Lounge will be offering drink specials during the event.
