E. P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park’s summer swim season will be marked with a kick-off celebration on Saturday, June 2, from noon to 2 p.m. This is the second year for the Sawyer Makes a Splash! event. Admission to the pool area will be half price from noon to 2 p.m. that day with adult admission $3 and children $2.50 each.
The park is located at 3000 Freys Hill Road, off Westport Road near the Gene Snyder Freeway.
The state park’s celebration is being put on by the Tom Sawyer State Park Foundation, a nonprofit support organization. The foundation played a critical role in raising the funds that paid for the splash pad, which debuted last year.
Refreshments will be available, and there will be prize giveaways, including a Kentucky State Resort Park overnight stay and season passes to the Sawyer Swim Center. The pool’s renovated concession stand will be open to provide food service, and the Tom Sawyer State Park Foundation will sell concession items as a fund-raiser. Frogglez Goggles will demonstrate and hand out the company’s kid-friendly swim goggles. And music will be provided by Hi-Fi DJ.
