Carmichael's welcomes Sam Halpern for a reading and book signing of his debut novel, "A Far Piece to Canaan". The novel was inspired by Halpern's childhood in rural Kentucky. It is the story of Samuel, a celebrated but troubled retired professor who reluctantly returns after his wife's death to visit a farm in the Kentucky hills where he lived as a child. Sam, himself, was made famous because he is the father in the popular Twitter feed and book "Sh*t My Dad Says."
