The exciting Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Land Roverarrives at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington this April 23-26, 2015! The event is one of the most anticipated, highest profile Eventing competitions in the country. It is one of only (6) three-day events in the world that is ranked at the highest level, four stars (CCI4*), and is the only one held in the United States. It is also the largest annual equine competition held at the Kentucky Horse Park and attracts over 78,000 spectators from all over the world!
Often compared to a triathlon, Three-Day Eventing is an Olympic level equestrian sport in which riders must compete in three separatedisciplines: dressage, often described as horse ballet; cross-country, a true test of athletic ability and endurance as combinations gallop over four miles of challenging terrain, at speeds up to 25 mph, while negotiating remarkable obstacles, water hazards, banks and ditches; and stadium jumping, which tests the combination’s precision, accuracyand stamina after two prior days of exertion, to determine the winner.
Guests can reserve their very own Land Rover Tailgate spot along the course, enjoy Maker’s Mark Bourbon Tastings, and watch thrilling competition amongst the world’s top riders. Land Rover will also be hosting a Young Driver’s Adventure Course, giving children ages 4-8 an off-road adventure of their own in an electric mini Land Rover, while adults will have the opportunity to drive the all-new 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport in addition to other models on a specially designed off-road demonstration course. The 4th annual “Land Rover Tailgate Challenge" takes place on Saturday, April 25th, and will award an extensive prize package to the most creative, best-decorated and catered Land Rover tailgate party.
Outside of the competition, guests can also attend a special Marker’s Mark commemorative bottle auction & reception and Twilight 5K Run to benefit this year’s Rolex charity partner, Horses and Hope, which raises funds for breast cancer. And, don’t miss the Reigning events! Including a $100,000 FEI class on Friday evening, Saturday youth class in the afternoon, and Freestyle Saturday evening which will be entertaining!Saturday before the start of the Freestyle there will be Celebrity Reiningwhere top eventing athletes (at least one Olympian) will (attempt to) ride a reining horse. They ride a pattern, are judged and there is a ‘winner’.
In addition, Land Rover will renew the "Land Rover Best Ride of the Day" program, now in its third year, which honors the top U.S. rider who comes closest to the optimum time on the cross country course with no jumping penalties. The winner will be awarded a 24-month lease of an all-new 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport! To learn about the event, ticket information and more, visit http://rk3de.org/.
