The Filson Historical Society will host a lecture and historic bourbon tasting. Bourbon historian Michael R. Veach will give a lecture, and bartender Joy Perrine will be mixing cocktails. The bourbon tasting will come at a $100 cost. On Monday, December 5th, Michael Veach will be giving a talk about two historic liquors that will be available for you to taste. Both liquors are nearly a century old and date back to the Prohibition Era, making them true rarities of a lost and decadent age. And with each passing year, their rarity only increases. Old Crow is an incredible bourbon, distilled in 1908, aged for 17 years, and bottled in 1925. Gordon’s Dry Gin is a Prohibition Era gin, with which Joy Perrine, legendary Louisville bartender, will be mixing French 75 cocktails. We will also have two contemporary bourbons for comparison and tasting, Michter’s Bourbon and Rye, and a reception courtesy of our sponsor, Michter’s Distillery.
