November 7, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Make reservations by noon, November 6
Our Veterans Day program honors the thousands of American soldiers, sailors, and airmen who returned home from their service with damaged vision. These young men and women pioneered techniques for "foot travel" that made it possible for blind people everywhere to break barriers and achieve their aspirations. The program explores the birth of modern rehabilitation and the personal stories of recent graduates of Veterans Administration Programs. Veterans Tom Miller (Vietnam) and Glenn Minney (Iraq War) will share their personal experiences at Hines Blind Rehabilitation Center in and the challenges they faced. Tom Miller became a social worker and is a former executive director of the Blinded Veterans Association. Glenn Minney is the Director of Government Relations at the BVA. Both currently live outside Washington, D.C.
Free to the public but space is limited so registration is required. Call 502-899-2213 or email kcarpenter@aph.com to register. Best for older children and adults.
