Our Veterans Day program honors the thousands of American soldiers, sailors, and airmen who returned home from their service with damaged vision. These young men and women pioneered techniques for "foot travel" that made it possible for blind people everywhere to break barriers and achieve their aspirations. The program explores the birth of modern rehabilitation, the origins of orientation and mobility, a screening of the classic 1953 documentary "The Long Cane," and the personal stories of recent graduates of V.A. programs. Free to the public but space is limited so registration is required. Call 502-899-2213 or email kcarpenter@aph.org to register. Best for older children and adults.
