The arrival of printing changed the world, allowing increased literacy and knowledge through rapid spread of text. Printmaking techniques were inevitably adopted by artists and continues to survive, evolve, and intrigue. “Printmaking in Kentucky" is a juried group show exploring traditional and contemporary forms of the process. By focusing on Kentucky artists, we seek to celebrate our state’s rich heritage and excellence in the arts.
Subject matter and artistic styles are also greatly varied in this exhibition. Some reoccurring themes include human figures, animals, abstracts, and landscapes. There are even works in the show utilizing printmaking methods juxtaposed with other art forms to create intriguing mixed media works.
“Printmaking in Kentucky” will run from September 30th – October 29th in conjunction with the 2016 Mid America Print Council Biennial Conference, October 5th-8th. The Opening Reception will be held at Kaviar Gallery on September 30th 6-9PM during the F.A.T Friday Trolley Hop! An Open House will be held in conjunction with the 2016 MAPC Biennial Conference, October 8th 2-5PM.
