On display May 13 through July 9, 2016, "Form, Not Function: Quilt Art at the Carnegie" explores the world of contemporary art quilts. This annual, juried exhibit draws works of art by artists across the United States and celebrates innovation and creative thought in the increasingly popular medium of art quilts. Over the past thirteen years, "Form, Not Function" has gained recognition for this evolving art form, and the Carnegie Center is proud to continue serving as a known venue for the exhibition of contemporary art quilts. This year, 20 quilts were selected out of the 281 submitted for consideration from 128 individual artists. Image shown is a collage of this year's accepted works.
Enjoy light refreshments, live jazz by the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Quartet, and a chance to meet the jurors and some of the artists featured in the show at the opening reception on Friday, May 13, from 6-8 PM. This exhibit and the opening reception (free and open to the public) are sponsored by the Carnegie Center, Inc.
The Carnegie Center is pleased to have Betty Busby, Heather Jones, and Arturo Alonzo Sandoval as jurors for the 2016 "Form, Not Function" exhibition.
