Louisville Orchestra Music Without Borders Series Opens with
KENTUCKY STRINGS
LO brings top Louisville talents--Tessa Lark, Anne Richardson,
and LO’s own Robert Simonds, as soloists.
For the fourth season, Teddy Abrams’ signature program Music Without Borders brings great music at affordable prices into neighborhoods across Kentuckiana. The Music Without Borders Series opens in October with Kentucky Strings, featuring the talents of Kentucky-connected music and musicians of the highest caliber: violinist Tessa Lark, cellist Anne Richardson, and the LO’s Principal Second violinist Robert Simonds.
Kentucky Strings will be performed in three locations: in the Highlands at Adath Jeshurun (sponsored by Sheldon and Denise Schiller Family in memory of Dr. Sheldon Schiller and Andrew Schiller), Kentucky Country Day Theater in Springhurst, and an LO favorite, the Paul W. Ogle Cultural + Community Center at IUS. All concerts start at 7:30PM.

The Kentucky Strings concerts will open with …where unsolvable problems go., a 2017 piece by Louisville-born, Curtis Institute-educated Neil Rao. Robert Simonds will perform the U.S. debut of Rhapsody (2016) by Louisville-based composer Jeremy Beck, followed by two-time winner of the Association of the Louisville Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition, cellist Anne Richardson, performing Shostakovich’s first Cello Concerto. The program will conclude with Louisville native, violinist Tessa Lark, performing new music that was written specifically for her; Love Letter is a work by Michael Thurber which incorporates elements of jazz, hip-hop, and rock, as well as traditional Kentucky fiddling.
